Software Protection Against Man-At-The-End Attacks
A Man-At-The-End (MATE) attacker has complete control over the environment where a software program is running. A MATE attacker can therefore reverse engineer the program (e.g. via debugging) and tamper with the program (e.g. via fault injection). An example is a mobile game application that runs on the device of a malicious end user who does not want to pay the license in order to buy premium features in the game. This talk will present how easy it is to attack unprotected software and afterwards it will present various software protection techniques, which aim to defend software against MATE attacks.
